By three points only, Clara Copponi missed the bronze medal on the omnium on Friday at the World Track Championships. On the Stab Vélodrome de Roubaix, the Frenchwoman however managed a full day: third in the scratch, tenth in the race tempo and third in elimination, she was in ambush before the points race, the ultimate test, during which she could not catch up again.

Copponi ultimately failed three points behind world road champion Elisa Balsamo and six behind Belgian Lotte Kopecky. The Scottish Katie Archibald, winner of three of the first events and at the top of the general classification all day, won her second world title in the specialty after 2017.

Hinze queen of speed
On individual speed, the title went to Emma Hinze, who won a 100% German final against Lea Sophie Friedrich. The duel for bronze, 100% Canadian, between Lauriane Genest and Kelsey Mitchell, turned to the advantage of the second, crowned last year. The only Frenchwoman involved in the discipline, Mathilde Gros, was eliminated the day before in the quarter-finals.
