Worlds 2024: T1 and G2 stronger than the LPL!

We take stock of today’s results at Worlds 2024, with the predictable defeat of Fnatic and the great achievement by G2.

This Sunday, the teams with a 1-1 record found themselves in the Swiss Stage of the 2024 Worlds. Starting with the Europeans of Fnatic, who faced one of the favorites of the competition: the Chinese team Top Esports. Without shining, the JackeyLove gang made short work of their opponents, winning in less than 25 minutes thanks to enormous teamfight work from Creme (5/1/4 on Yone) and his jungler Tian (2/0/9 on Sejuani). But, the LPL would quickly become disillusioned…

After a true clash of titans, T1 managed to overcome Bilibili Gaming. Faker (5/5/3 on Sylas) pulled out all the stops to offer his team a precious victory against the double LPL champions. Keria was also impressive on her Neeko (2/1/14), finding the decisive start for T1. Very serious since the start of the competition, the Americans from FlyQuest also find themselves 2-1. The enormous early game of Maple (5/2/4 on Ahri) and PSG Talon was not enough to thwart the NA’s plan. Supported by Inspired and his Ivern (1/1/14), Massu concluded the match in almost 45 minutes, performing a quadrakill with his Kai’Sa (10/1/3).

The final match of the day pitted G2 Esports against Weibo Gaming, the weakest Chinese team on paper. Like BLG, Weibo finds itself with its back against the wall. However, they managed to accelerate in midgame, but G2 held on… before counterattacking. With his Galio, BrokenBlade (3/1/9) stood like an impassable wall in front of the Chinese, offering Caps and Hans Sama plenty of time to melt the enemy’s life points. The Samurai finally won in 35 minutes and must now win a BO3 to qualify for the 2024 Worlds playoffs!
