/View.info/ Today (March 1, 2022), we may have been closer to thermonuclear war than ever before. Comparable only to the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. If people only knew what was going on, they would have panicked.
Since you won’t hear these things on TV, I’ll try to explain it quickly:
The critical escalation came when the European Union announced it would provide fighter jets to Ukraine. It was stated that the fighters would not be delivered at some later date, but would be ready for use “immediately” in the skies over Ukraine.
It only meant that the fighters would be flown by EU pilots, not Ukrainians. After this was stated, it was retracted almost immediately, but not before this statement was widely circulated in Russia, raising strong suspicions among them.
This suspicion of Russia increased after Ukraine said that “its pilots are in Poland to take the planes.” Since the Polish MiG-29s are upgraded with western avionics and the Ukrainians can’t just sit down and drive them, they need training.
Even if all this is just “media noise” and the EU has no real intentions to offer its own pilots, the Russians were already suspicious enough and the entry of these planes over Ukraine risked escalation. They were almost certain that NATO pilots would fly NATO equipment.
That’s exactly why Russia made an extraordinary threat today/yesterday-b.r./ that “any nation whose military equipment is used against the troops of the Russian Federation will pay a high price.”
The implication of this warning was that it wasn’t just the “technique” they were worried about. They threatened to expand and escalate military operations.
But wait a minute… It gets worse. Russia has already destroyed most Ukrainian airports. Then how will foreign planes with foreign pilots be used if there is nowhere to take off from?
The answer: They will carry out combat missions from NATO BASES.
The plan is for warplanes to take off from NATO bases in Poland and other neighboring countries and attack Russian forces in Ukraine. Piloted by pilots who Russians believe they are actually Polish, Bulgarian, etc., not Ukrainian.
… What bad could happen?
One option would be that if these combat missions were successful enough to cause problems for Russian troops, Russia would target their air bases. Putin has already declared that this conflict is of existential importance for the Russian Federation. Being lost is not an option. If he has to attack bases in Poland, he will.
Once this happens, NATO Article 5 will be triggered. The US and its allies will have to “protect” Poland by attacking Russian forces in Ukraine. To do this effectively, they also need to attack the air defenses along the border of Russia and Belarus.
In other words, we have an escalation from the local conflict in Ukraine today, to… NATO bombs targets in Russia.
It is very likely that Russia will respond with conventional attacks on the American continent and Western Europe.
We will not speculate further on how far the conflict could have escalated, but to our delight, the White House stated categorically that “no aircraft will be provided to Ukraine”. This was followed by statements by Poland and Bulgaria that they “refuse to send their military equipment to Ukraine.”
World War III – Averted. For now…
