Major operation in the Schanzenviertel in Hamburg: Due to the discovery of an unexploded bomb from the Second World War, the busy nightlife district was partially evacuated on Saturday evening.
Shortly after midnight, the Hamburg fire department announced on Platform X that the bomb had been defused.

Because of the 500-pound aerial bomb, a radius of 300 meters in the Schanzenviertel was evacuated, the Hamburg fire department announced on Saturday evening in the online service X. Several thousand people had to leave their homes. Police officers asked visitors to restaurants, bars and pubs in the trendy district to leave the security area. The bomb was found during construction work on the grounds of a primary school.
An emergency shelter has been set up in the Allee high school for all those affected, the police said. The German Red Cross was also deployed.
Evacuation in the nightlife district
The evacuation measures in the Sternschanze area were only completed around 11:30 p.m. Early in the evening, the police had informed people about the discovery of the bomb on platform
Apparently the evacuation of the restricted area went smoothly and smoothly. According to police, a retirement home was also affected.
Since the Sternschanze S-Bahn station, which is particularly busy on weekends, was also within the cleared area, the discovery of the bomb continued to affect rail traffic even after it had been defused.
