/ world today news/ Stara Zagora was another non-Sofia stop on the ” world today news” tour. The authors of the site Velislava Dureva, Alexander Simov and Rumen Petkov presented their journalistic analysis of the political situation in Bulgaria, Europe and Russia and answered the questions of the Stara Zagora audience. People’s representatives Dragomir Stoynev, deputy chairman of the National Assembly of the BSP, and Georgi Gyokov participated in the meeting organized by the Stara Zagorje socialists.
Alexander Simov, still under the influence of the PES congress, from where he had returned, emphasized the international success of the re-election of Sergey Stanishev as president. He launched into a commentary on the policies and values of the European right and the European left. In his words, only a common ideology of the left can form the necessary common social project for Europe, uniform social standards, European minimum wage. “In Budapest, the state of democracy in Europe was discussed, and as guests of the Hungarian Socialist Party, our focus was the permanent right-wing dictatorship of Viktor Orbán, but it did not become clear to the participants in the discussion whether it is bad to step on the banks’ necks and make them work for the benefit of consumers or to try to nationalize enterprises for the benefit of the people”, asked Simov rhetorically . According to him, Hungarians have their reasons to protest against their ruler, who in no way tramples on democracy, and his decisions are too supranational. “He is taking back the pieces of statehood from the hands of the capitalists. This is by no means in the categories of left and right, but in the categories of normal and abnormal”, the journalist was categorical, explaining that “another coalition relationship with the EPP will blur left and right, which is the most sinister thing in a political system. This is how parties like SYRIZA, Podemos came into existence, this is the answer to ordinary people who are looking for a real left”. Simov believes that, deservedly, the left in Bulgaria should be identical and that the BSP should be able to meet the expectations of the people. “right here, where inequality has gigantic dimensions, employers can fire workers as they wish, and some right-wing economists continue to explain from the screens about the minimum work enthusiasm as some kind of heresy”.
According to Velislava Dureva, the European right and the European left are two sides of the same coin. “The left in Europe is turning its back on its social values, the lack of a position on the events in Ukraine is not just betrayal of primitive principles, but treason,” Dureva said. A triple coup was carried out in Ukraine – state, geopolitical and neo-Nazi, and the European left did not condemn this crime and did not propose a resolution to the European Parliament. The behavior towards the Transatlantic Agreement is similar.
The BSP is in the PES with the expectation of policy reformulation and Stanishev’s role is exceptional for the return of true leftist positions. The journalists also summarized the trends of the transition. Today we are witnessing how the pseudo-democrats achieve a well-planned plan – first they destroy our state, then the institutions, the army, education and health care. “Bulgaria is in the EU and NATO to defend its positions, not to behave like vassals. What will we do tomorrow if they confront us against Russia”, the participants of the meeting were looking for an answer to this question. They discussed the policies of the Bulgarian left, its positions on current national and geopolitical issues, the upcoming local elections. Interesting ideas for information campaigns were proposed by the people of Stara Zagora to stop the rewriting of history. The crazy policies and proposals for “reforms” of the “Borisov 2” cabinet, the scandalous statements of the prime minister, the silence of the serious topics on the public agenda by some “serving” media did not pass. “If any other politician had dared to utter the line ‘I can become Ratko Mladic in an hour’, he would no longer be prime minister today,” they united in the hall.
The discussion also commented on the tension in the BSP, as well as its oppositional behavior. “It is not the media where the BSP should comment on its problems,” Rumen Petkov is convinced, who expressed his disapproval of the dishonest means and moves that are being used. BSP remains the only political formation – an exponent of left-wing thinking in Bulgaria. “If not BSP, who? Is ABV, the recipients of 16 billion, the participants in the cabinet with GERD? No, of course! When we are dissatisfied with the BSP, we must fight so that it remains our party”, Simov emphasized emotionally. “For the sake of the truth, we write on our site and one who does not sell is not bought”, with these words the authors of world today news concluded the meeting in Stara Zagora.
