World Teachers’ Day: aware of the shortcomings, Jean Paul Cédy reiterates the government’s commitment to making improvements

As part of the celebration of the 30th World Teachers’ Day, this Saturday, October 5, 2024, the Guinean Minister of Pre-University Education and Literacy, combed through the many difficulties facing teachers. confronted.

“In Guinea, the challenges facing our teachers are numerous. In certain regions, working conditions are difficult, educational infrastructure is insufficient, and educational resources are limited. But despite this, you persevere. You demonstrate extraordinary courage by pursuing your mission with determination and heart. It is this dedication that we salute today”he said in the statement made on this occasion.

But first, he stressed that teaching, more than a profession, is a vocation. Therefore, teachers are dream builders, guides for our young people, and pillars in the training of responsible citizens. “You instill values, you train minds”, he pointed out.

This is why, aware of their sacrifices, Minister Cédy reiterated the government’s commitment to redouble its efforts to improve the working conditions of teachers through continuing training, fair remuneration and more suitable infrastructure.

According to Jean Jean Paul Cédy, this year’s theme: “Valuing the path of the teaching profession: towards a new social contract for education” reflects the vision of an inclusive education system concerned with the well-being of all.

According to the minister, “it is together, through collaboration between the government, unions, civil society and teachers, that we will be able to build a happy future where every Guinean child will have access to quality education, and where every teacher will have the means to fulfill its mission in the best conditions”he added.

Finally, he welcomed the assumption of responsibility by the president of the transition following the enrollment of 10,000 municipal contract teachers and the recruitment of 2,111 new teachers to the public service.

“This act shows wonderfully the interest and confidence of the Head of State in you teachers, promoters of peace, national unity and tolerance. He is committed to respecting differences and the key role you play in preserving social harmony in Guinea”he said in his speech.
