Beck’s Twitter account claims the musician died suddenly after contracting bacterial meningitis. No further details about the circumstances of the death have been released and his family have asked for privacy.
Meanwhile, music critics remind us that the guitarist’s real name is Jeffrey Arnold Beck, and he was born on June 24, 1944 in a suburb of London. Initially he became known as a member of the band “Yardbirds”, but then began a solo career, during which he experimented with different musical styles: rock, jazz, blues and even opera music.
He was a master improviser and the influential Rolling Stone magazine ranked him fifth among the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
The musician received eight prestigious Grammy awards and was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – as a member of the Yardbirds and also as a solo artist.
