World record by Karsten Warholm at an odd distance

Karsten Warholm did exactly as he did in Oslo at this time last year – he broke the world record for the unusual distance of 300 meters hurdles. 33.26 is an improvement of 52 percent.

– I am very pleased. It’s great to be back, and it’s cool to see I’ve taken steps. It is always good to see for an athlete, because you are always a little insecure, says Warholm, who did his first competition for this year, to NRK.

300 meters hurdles he will certainly not run at the Olympics in Tokyo later this summer. Then it is the 400 meter hurdles that applies, but it is still a good message for the 25-year-old Norwegian.

– This was a good answer. I ran faster than last year, and we know how that season went. So it promises good, he says.

Warholm is one of the big gold favorites in the 400 meter hurdles in the Olympics. Last year in Stockholm in August, he ran the distance of 46.87 – nine hundredths of Kevin Young’s world record from 1992.
