Through the Provincial Department of Zoonoses, the Ministry of Health of Jujuy highlighted that on Thursday, September 28 and Friday, September 29, the vaccination campaign will be carried out within the framework of World Rabies Day.
Free vaccination of pets will take place in participating veterinary centers in San Salvador de Jujuy, El Carmen, Humahuaca, Libertador, Palpalá, Perico, San Pedro, Volcán and Yala.
Rabies in humans causes the death of around 60,000 people worldwide every year, that is, one every nine minutes. The most important global source of rabies in humans is uncontrolled rabies in animals, with girls and boys being the group most exposed to risk.
The only way to minimize the possibility of contagion through the bite of dogs and cats is the vaccination and adequate control of pets that involves responsible ownership along with education for prevention and assured access to immediate medical care for people facing a bite.
In 2023, the health portfolio promotes joint action with veterinary professionals from Jujuy who will comply with the application of the anti-rabies vaccine, for which it is requested to go to the veterinarian closest to the home, arranging the respective security measures for the transfer of the animals. .
