It’s the first great boating event for over a year and it’s been happening online. The Virtual Nautic opens its digital bandwidths this Friday, March 12 at 10 a.m. (French time). The opportunity for the president of the Federation of nautical industries, Yves Lyon-Caen, to take stock of the health of the sector.
How does this first Virtual Nautic look?
We can say, even before it is opened, that it is already a success! We will have 150 exhibitors representing more than 200 brands and covering all sectors, including tourism. And the program of round tables is varied to address both novice and more experienced boaters and professionals. With 20,000 to 30,000 visitors expected, this will undoubtedly be the largest event of this type ever to be organized.

Are boating companies suffering from the crisis?
On the contrary, 2020 has been a particularly good year. In France, as in all of Europe and North America, we felt a very strong need to escape, as a response to too long confinements. This is why the difficulty for manufacturers today is to meet demand. Some have delivery times of several months. Never seen ! And the year 2021 promises to be to match.
Do virtual events have a future?
There is no question of replacing the traditional shows, but I think that tomorrow we are inaugurating a new form of relationship between the actors of the nautical industry and the amateurs. Thanks to the alternation between physical and virtual exhibitions, we will be able to ensure continuity in exchanges and provide new services to the sector.
