World Premiere of the Second-Generation Škoda Kodiaq: Features, Design, and Technology

It has been modified once since its release, but now it’s time for a completely new Kodiaq. The world premiere of the second-generation Škoda SUV model took place in Berlin, where the “TV Autozisna” program managed to talk for a moment with the chief designer of Škoda Auto, Oliver Stefani.

Whatever we expected, what we saw exceeded expectations. The new “Kodiaq” is six centimeters longer than the previous one, but it is clear that size is not the main thing this time. Together with the extended “Sportline” bumper, the “Kodiaq” looks impressive today.

Oliver Stefani’s team has removed the unnecessary details, and the straight sides with a single tornado line under the windows make the posture of the Kodiaq even a little noble. The first “Kodiaq” was extremely successful, so making the next one just as good was not so easy. What to change and what to leave?

Many were interested in how Škoda will connect the ever-increasing digitization with the new architecture of the Volkswagen Group and the practical interests of users. And here it is. 13-inch screen in the middle, gear box switch under the steering wheel and elegant climate system control with very high quality knobs. No less important topic than design is technique.

There, the second-generation Kodiaq avoids rapid changes. Both petrol and diesel are available. The new plug-in hybrid is built on the basis of a 1.5 TSI engine. The system battery is more capacious, so the range is also longer. The usual 1.5- and 2-liter turbo engines will also remain in the lineup, now without exception with a DSG box. All-wheel drive will be mandatory for the most powerful units.
