The question has been for a long time how long World of Warcraft can last. The popular game has been around since 2004 and is still played by millions of players worldwide, but according to some, it could also use a new part. That way the mechanics and the graphics have been completely overhauled.
But for now, Blizzard is certainly not done with World of Warcraft. The developer announced three new expansions at Blizzcon last weekend. It is a trilogy of expansions that together form the ‘Worldsoul Saga’.
It all starts in 2024 with the expansion The War Within. Players will be in the expansion travel to the underground realm of Khaz Algar, homeworld of the Earthen, a race created by the Titans. The Earthen will also be a new playable race in World of Warcraft. For The War Within, Blizzard also has a cinematic trailer released.
Another World of Warcraft expansion
After the adventures in The War Within, players can continue the story in the Midnight and The Last Titan expansions. When that one expansions the exact outcome is not yet known. Normally, Blizzard maintains a timeline of one expansion every two years, which would mean releases in 2026 and 2028.
And then there is another ‘new’ expansion on the way. World of Warcraft Classic will switch to Cataclysm in 2024. That update caused a major change for Azeroth in 2010.
