– World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is the fastest selling PC game ever

World of Warcraft is still boiling, thanks in large part to the launch of major expansions that keep players entertained. The latest of these has set new records, we must believe the publisher.

In a press release Blizzard Entertainment reports that the recent World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion sold a respectable 3.7 million copies on launch day alone.

This will make the expansion the fastest selling PC game ever, well worth noting if you accept that the expansion can be called a game in itself. The previous record holder will be Blizzard’s own Diablo III, which sold 3.5 million copies on release day.

Otherwise, the developer can state that World of Warcraft in general is more popular than ever. During the months before and after the launch of Shadowlands, the game is said to have reached and maintained its highest number of monthly players ever – compared to similar time periods around all of the previous expansions.

Players should also have spent more time in Azeroth so far this year than in the corresponding period of all the last 10 years.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was launched on November 24 and is the eighth expansion of the online role-playing game. It was in the cards that the expansion was popular already when it emerged that pre-sales had surpassed all previous expansions.

Shadowlands was well received, and here at the work the reviewer struck with 8 out of 10 points.

– Since the launch on November 24, I have had a lot of fun with World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. The expansion tells an exciting story, the new areas are mostly impressive and the reduction of the level ceiling from 120 to 60 has made it more fun to play again, wrote our man.
