“World of Warcraft Introduces Hardcore Servers to Meet Growing Demand”

Blizzard has announced the creation of hardcore servers for World of Warcraft to meet the growing demand.

Hardcore servers follow the same rules as Diablo hardcore characters: if the character dies, they are deleted. Hardcore characters will have a separate leaderboard.

World of Warcraft has implemented a softer version of the Hardcore servers with the “Soul of Iron” buff. This buff is only available on Season of Mastery servers and is only available to non-dead characters. After death, the player’s character is debuffed and can never get the “Soul of Iron” buff again. This allows players to use the buff as proof of hardcore status.

Recently, this style of play has been popularized by streamers Asmongold and Savix.

The addition of Hardcore servers was announced during an unofficial Hardcore All-Stars stream, with a Blizzard employee confirming the announcement on the forums.
