Since World of Warcraft was first released, there have been a host of expansions, which have offered both additions and changes. As with most changes, there are players who both appreciate and dislike them, something that a few years ago resulted in the branch of World of Warcraft Classic. There, the game is back to its roots and original design, while the modern variant continues to develop.
Now expansion is expected for both versions, when Activision Blizzard unveiled two new expansions on Tuesday night. For the Classic version, it is in a new-old format, as the expansion Wrath of the Lich King returns later this year. In addition, the new expansion Dragonflight was unveiled, which will be the ninth of its kind. It offers a trip to the island of Dragon Isles, which is home to Azeroth’s dragons and the new breed Dracthyr.
As the name reveals, dragons are in focus here too. Dracthyr is a hybrid breed, which allows players to switch to a dragon shape. In addition, it is the first time the game introduces a race tied to a class, which in this case is Evoker. Players also get the opportunity to learn kite flying.
None of the expansions have a launch date at this time. Wrath of the Lich King is promised later this year, but Dragonflight is without a year and it may take until 2023 before players see a glimpse of it.
