[World Now] Chinese troops “blown” with wooden sticks… Sino-Indian border dispute

Indian soldiers beat Chinese soldiers with wooden sticks and iron pipes.

Other Indian soldiers also threw bricks or stones at Chinese soldiers.

Finally, the Chinese soldiers retreated over the stone wall and the Indian soldiers cheered.

It is unclear when and where this video was shot.

However, this video has been circulating on social media since Indian and Chinese troops clashed again at the border on the 9th.

In this regard, CNN quoted an Indian military officer as saying that the video was shot in September last year.

So why was last year’s video only released right after this incident?

Ian Hall, deputy director of the Griffith Asia Institute (GAI) in Australia, said the video appeared to show “India’s victory” and said, “I think it was released to reinforce the Indian government’s claim that it is staunchly defending (the border) .”

It is interpreted to mean that the video may have been intentionally leaked by the Indian authorities.

According to earlier foreign reports, the clash on the 9th occurred when Chinese troops approached the Tawang area in Arunachal Pradesh, India, when Indian troops tightly blocked them.

The Chinese government has claimed sovereignty over some 90,000 square kilometers of Arunachal Pradesh, which has been in conflict, as “South Tibet”, and has faced India, which de facto controlled it.

India and China went to war over border issues in 1962, but are facing the actual line of control as the border without finalizing the border line.

In 2020, the two countries’ militaries clashed back-to-back in the disputed Ladakh region of northern India.

A fight at Pangong Lake in May and a ‘club fight’ at Galwan Valley in June followed.

In particular, dozens of soldiers from both sides are believed to have been killed in the clashes in the Galwan Valley.
