“World Music and Folk Music Helped Me to Travel and Share My Love for Music” – Būu’s Story

Būu tells host Jānis Šipkēvics that currently she travels less around the world, but she traveled a lot even before the time of covid: “Before that, I traveled and traveled a lot, and it was world music and folk music that helped me to do that, because of course I was this one – a “struggling musician” who had no money and no opportunities. I play on the streets.”

Boo remembers that she played various musical instruments on the street, such as mandolin, kokli, guitar, and also often wore a folk costume.

“It was a long and sweet phase. Thanks to this musical baggage and the people and experiences here, I was in Brazil, China, and Korea, played the mandolin at the Winter Olympics,” says the singer about her experience.

“I’m so grateful to have had these experiences here and such beautiful people because its music is universal,” she continues, “I’m not a virtuoso on any instrument, I’m not a virtuoso music producer, I just love music and love to express myself and then anything can be cultivated enough to express itself, so to speak, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”
