Government leaders and heads of state from around the world congratulate Joe Biden on his victory in the US election, despite his refusal to accept President Donald Trump.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron: the most important world leaders have immediately congratulated Joe Biden (and often Kamala Harris). The fact that President Donald Trump does not accept the result and speaks about election fraud does not prevent government leaders and heads of state from recognizing the result.
Trudeau – who was often on a collision course with Trump – was one of the first to congratulate Biden. He says Canada wants to work with the United States “to promote peace and inculsion, economic prosperity and climate action.”
Macron then said that “the Americans have elected their president,” a reference to the difficult electoral process that has now been completed.
Macron, Johnson, and Merkel also explicitly congratulated Kamala Harris, the first female vice president for the US.
