In the 37th minute, Mikhail Abramov knocked the puck into the open goal in an overpowering game, but after Canada’s coaching challenge, the goal did not pay for the previous offside. 29 seconds before the second break, Askarov covered Cozens’ escape, which was fouled and failed even from a penalty shot.
Canada also reigned in the third period, and Askarov had his hands full. Šakir Muchamadullin could have put Levi up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 51 minutes. He finished the result during a power play in an empty goal 89 seconds before the end of Cozens.

The Americans, who were the rival of the Czech team in the basic group B, won the fifth match in a row in a tournament after the initial defeat with Russia 3: 5. However, they decided on the triumph only after a very tough fight at the very end of the second semifinal and will play for their fifth gold. The last time they celebrated was four years ago, when they played in Montreal and Toronto. Last year they were left without a medal.
In the opening minute, Cole Caufield had a chance to open the score after a rough finish by the Finns, but the goalkeeper Kari Piiroinen was against. The favorite was in the 13th minute, when Alex Turcotte got the fastest to the rebounded puck. Soon, however, the overseas team committed the offense against the rules and Kasper Simontaival equalized after a beautiful combination.
The steady state lasted until the 36th minute. In it, Jackson found LaCombe with a great pass by John Farinacci, who returned the lead to the Americans. In addition, they immediately played a long power play, when Aku Räty received a penalty of 2 + 2 minutes for a foul with a high stick. The USA team also shone with a great interplay and Matthew Boldy directed the puck into an empty goal.
The Finns then withstood another great pressure of the opponent and returned to the game in the 52nd minute thanks to Simontaival. Henry Thrun then threw the disc into the auditorium and the Finnish quarterfinal hero Roni Hirvonen equalized to 3: 3 in numerical advantage. The last word, however, was given to Kaliyev, who decided 76 seconds before the end with a quick blow from the annulus under the upper bar.
