The General Authority for Health Care annually celebrates World Heart Day on September 27. This year, it organized an awareness symposium in Luxor Governorate with the participation of heart and atherosclerosis patients, under the slogan “Protect Your Heart,” with the aim of spreading awareness about preventing heart disease and promoting the health and safety of patients.
This year’s slogan, “Involving patients for their safety,” came to emphasize the importance of patients’ participation and empowerment in the treatment journey and making decisions related to their health. This day aims to spread awareness about ways to prevent cardiovascular diseases and how to maintain heart health.
World Heart Day
More than 70 heart disease patients participated in awareness sessions on the occasion of World Heart Day. The sessions included the 5 most important tips to help adapt to the disease and prevent heart attacks:
– Identify the symptoms and signs of the disease.
– Taking the necessary safety and prevention measures.
– Changing lifestyle to avoid seizures and hospitalization.
– Develop a daily plan to control heart failure.
– Follow a healthy diet to reduce risk factors.
– Rapid response to any heart attack.
– Monitoring levels of cholesterol and fats in the blood.
– Exercise regularly, such as walking.

A number of specialized doctors participated in the World Heart Day activities and symposium, most notably:
– Dr. Zein El Abidine Abdel Latif, Consultant and Head of the Cardiology and Interventional Catheterization Department at Luxor International Complex.
– Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, cardiovascular specialist at Luxor International Complex.
– Dr. Ahmed Makhlouq, Supervisor of the Clinical Nutrition File for Continuing Medical Education at the General Authority for Health Care.
The day was organized in cooperation between the Authority’s Awareness and Initiatives Department and one of the companies supporting health services, which enabled patients to express their opinions and experiences for the first time. It was the best global heart day, according to the attendees.
