The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has sounded the alarm about cancer cases.

The agency confirmed the possibility of an increase in the number of cancer cases by 2050, as it could increase to more than 35 million cases.
She added that tobacco, alcohol, obesity and air pollution are major factors that may contribute to a 77% increase in the number of cases from about 20 million cases diagnosed in 2022.
She explained that “the global cancer burden reflects population aging and growth, as well as changes in people’s exposure to risk factors associated with social and economic development.”
The World Health Organization says that the most developed countries are expected to record significant increases in the number of cases, with an additional 4.8 million new cases expected by 2050 compared to 2022 estimates.
In terms of percentages, countries at the lower end of the Human Development Index (HDI) will see the largest increase of 142%, while countries in the middle range will record an increase of 99%.
The World Health Organization expects cancer deaths in these countries to nearly double by 2050.
