It is normal, at this time of the year, for the activity of the Corona virus to double, like other respiratory viruses. Therefore, the infection is more transmissible between humans and is controlled by the immune system, which is a network of cells, tissues and organs that work together to defend the body and protect it from germs that may attack it, such as: bacteria and viruses that cause infections and diseases, and one of its tasks is to combat the germs that cause it. For diseases, such as parasites or fungi, and removing them from the body.
In this context, a new strain of Corona appeared, which the World Health Organization considered to be the most common, and called it JN1, and announced a high rate of infection with the new mutant throughout the world. The World Health Organization advised the necessity of taking vaccines to avoid infection and alleviate symptoms, and called for a return to adherence to preventive measures, such as wearing a mask and always using sterilization tools.
Dr. Leah Abu Naoum, a specialist in public health and family medicine, explained to Al-Diyar that the new variant “affects the respiratory system, and the symptoms felt by the infected person are runny nose, sneezing, high temperature, cracks in the body, sore throat, severe and dry cough, and loss of the sense of smell and taste.” “It is a danger to people with chronic diseases, especially the elderly.”
She added: “This mutant is weak, but it spreads quickly and clings to cells less. However, since we are in the winter season, there will be influenza and virus infections, so antibiotics can be taken to treat the new mutant to avoid transmission of the disease.”
Abu Naoum indicated, “The number of people infected with the H1N1 virus is large, which is a type of influenza, and its symptoms are completely similar to colds and colds, noting that the infections exceeded 100 on the first day of the new year. There are some unconfirmed infections with the new sub-mutant of Corona.” She continued, “Winter usually brings seasonal diseases, especially influenza called H1N1, which is currently widespread, especially after the arrival of expatriates and foreign tourists to Lebanon who came to spend the holiday period. Therefore, the necessary medical measures must be taken to prevent the disease and reduce its severity.”
Abu Naoum explained, “The incubation period of the virus may reach 7 days, and a person may be infected with the virus without showing symptoms, and thus transmit the infection to others.”
