“World Health Day 2017: Shedding Light on Depression and HIV”

World Health Day is celebrated annually on April 7. This day aims to create awareness for a specific health theme. The theme is chosen annually by the World Health Organization (WHO) and highlights a priority area of care.

Over the past 50 years, the themes have highlighted important health issues, such as mental health

health. This year, people want to draw attention to “depression” and other illnesses that need to be taken out of the “taboo” sphere. The celebration is marked by activities beyond the day itself and serves as an opportunity to focus international attention on these important aspects of global health.

In connection with this special day, the Diakonessenhuis in Paramaribo will organize a mini fair with an informative character on April 6 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. She also chooses to discuss the new developments in the field of HIV.

The main theme of this fair is “Stay healthy” and the sub-theme is “You can live with HIV”.

The departments that will participate are the laboratory, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dietetics, psychology and speech therapy.
