Étienne Vidal and Mathieu Perrillon, licensees from Aqua Grimpe in Millau, took part in the World Games in Alabama, in the United States.
From July 11 to 17, the city of Birminghamin L’Alabama to UNITED STATEShosted the eleventh edition of World Games. This event, which brings together thenon-olympic disciplinesis considered the antechamber of the Olympic Games and gives all these high-level athletes the opportunity to experience a planetary event in the same way as the Olympic Games (opening ceremony, French delegation, closing ceremony, ranking of countries …).
A must to join the Olympics program
Held every four years since 1981, this edition initially scheduled for 2021 has been moved due to Covid-19. These World Games are an obligatory passage for the disciplines hoping one day
integrate the program of the Olympic Games. In the French sports rescue delegation, two Millavois were selected : Mathieu Perrillon in the 50m mannequin and the three relay events as well asEtienne Vidal in the three relay events.
Mathieu takes 7th place in the 50m model. Étienne and Mathieu finished 7th in the 4×50 m obstacles relay, 7th also in the 4×50 m buoy tube relay and 8th in the 4×25 m dummy relay. Experience, emotions, the world’s best… in short, Millavois have just had an intense week in the land of Uncle Sam!
42 medals in total
The French delegation ranks 5th in the medal standings, with a total of 42 medals. It is now time for the two athletes to rest before quickly returning to training to prepare for the next international events, in particular the world championships in Italy.
