Doctors in the Kurdistan Region call this condition triphallia. They detail the case in the medical journal International Journal of Surgery Case Reports.
The unidentified boy was three months old when it was found to have three genitals, reports MailOnline, and it is not clear why his case was not detected at birth.
His parents, who are from the city of Duhok, took him to the hospital because his child’s scrotum was swollen and there were two skin bumps.
According to doctors, these two protrusions are the penis, with a length of 2cm and 1cm. Both are reported to be malfunctioning and do not have a urethra.
There have been no further reports that say, whether these two genitals are connected to the reproductive system or not. Only one of the two vital organs has a head.
Doctors diagnosed supernumerary penis, which is a very rare condition that was first seen in 1609, in which a baby is born with more than one genitals.
The condition affects one in five to six million births and is never the same from case to case, the report said.
About 100 cases of babies born with two penises have been reported in the medical literature, and in some cases both penises function.
Doctors in India previously said they treated a two-year-old boy who was born with three genitals and no anus, but this has never been published in a medical journal.
