Architect Jan Hellmuth died at 82

Helmut Jan was riding a bicycle, ignored a stop sign and was hit by two cars.

One of the most successful US architects, Helmut Jahn, died in a traffic accident at the age of 82. The man was hit by a car after Yang, who was riding his bicycle, ignored a road sign demanding a stop. He died instantly, a spokesman for the Chicago Campton Hills Police Department said on Sunday, May 9. The tragedy happened a day earlier.

Helmut Jan was born on January 4, 1940 in Nuremberg. After completing his studies at the Technical University of Munich, he went to the United States. In 1967 he began working for one of the famous Chicago architectural bureaus – CF Murphy Associates, in the early 1980s he headed it.

His style was influenced by Ludwig Mies van der Roe, a legend of constructivist architecture and the last director of the Bauhaus school in Dessau. Jan’s notable works include the Illinois government skyscraper in Chicago, the airport in Kansas City, the tower of the exhibition complex in Frankfurt am Main, the Deutsche Post DHL skyscraper in Bonn, and the development of Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.
