World Exhaustion Day: On August 22nd the resources are used up

There was little commuting or air traffic, and many factories were idle. The Covid-19 crisis and the associated lockdown have shrunk humanity’s ecological footprint – by 9.3 percent, according to the Global Footprint Network, an international initiative that every year together with York University in Canada, Earth Overshoot Day calculated. In 2020, this symbolic date falls on August 22nd. That is more than three weeks later than 2019.
