World Emoji Day: Which are the most popular? – AdPress

A chat without emoticons is hard to imagine, these icons represent human emotions in an entertaining way in the digital world, and best of all, they are used in a wide variety of Apps, ranging from instant messaging, social networks, among others.

This is how July 17 was consolidated as World Emoji Day, but why? The choice of this date is due to the fact that it appears on the main platforms that use the calendar icon (you can see it on your WhatsApp). And it is an invention of Jeremy Burge, founder of the Emojipedia website, a space that explains the visual meaning of each emoji.

According to this page, emoticons are divided into eight categories: smiles and people; animals and nature; food and drinks; activities; travel and places; objects; symbols; and flags; the most popular being the heart made with hands (🫶); the red heart (❤️); the melting face (🫠); the face that contains tears (🥹); the little fire (🔥); the sparkles (✨); the skull (💀); the happy face and eyes (😊); and the face with tears of laughter (😂).

As is already known, emojis have gained so much popularity that they left chats and are now used in applications such as Instagram, Snapchat and Tik Tok, among others, as quick reactions to stories or posts. Thanks to this, emojis have generated a whole new way of relating, even flirting. Situation that singers like Bad Bunny have captured in their songs, as a form of real communication, in which many expect these reactions to their content.

On this date, realme, the fastest growing smartphone company, emphasizes how communications have adapted to today’s fast times, and that emojis are here to stay as fast and effective messages, and that they are available on all latest technology cell phones.

“Emojis are a form of expression mostly used by young people when interacting with their friends or family from a cell phone screen. For this reason, realme’s ‘dare to leap’ philosophy invites youth to dare to express themselves with the creativity that a smartphone allows: emojis, GIFs, short videos, photos, memes, among others”, said David Gutiérrez Bolívar, Senior PR manager for realme Peru, Chile and Colombia.
