Elements of the Turkish Armed Forces continue their duties in ensuring security in Qatar during the 2022 World Cup.
In addition to the vessel “TCG Burgaz Ada”, the Turkish forces in Qatar participate in the nuclear, biological, chemical and radiological threat defense unit, as well as explosive materials detection, bomb detection and combat drone teams.
Asked by the Qatari government to help keep the World Cup safe with members of the armed forces of friendly and allied countries, Turkey, the United States of America, Great Britain, Italy, France and Pakistan responded by forming joint forces at the inside the picture of the “FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Shield”.
The forces responsible for maintaining tournament security are directed and managed through a coordination centre.
Turkish forces participating in these tasks include units to detect and destroy explosives affiliated with the Land Forces Command and trained police dogs capable of detecting explosive materials in buildings, land and air vehicles, bags and people.
The dogs were also equipped with high-resolution camera systems with night vision and wireless communication, to be used to search places not visible from the outside.
In regards to the destruction of explosives, the specialized team uses products of Turkish defense industries, among which the signal jammer “Melkar 5S” locally produced in Turkey, and the remote explosives destruction robot “Dinger” stand out.
