Oberstdorf (AP) – Olympic champion Johannes Rydzek is removed from the German squad for the Nordic combined team competition.
The six-time world champion and local hero will be replaced by Terence Weber on Sunday (10 a.m. and 3 p.m. / ARD and Eurosport), as confirmed by the German Ski Association (DSV). On Friday in the singles, Oberstdorf’s Rydzek only finished 28th and had slumped in his specialty cross-country skiing at the end. Eric Frenzel, Fabian Rießle and Vinzenz Geiger were seated. Alongside Norway and Jarl Magnus Riiber, Germany is a hot contender for team gold.
