Belgian national team achieve victory when entertaining Wales in World Cup qualification 2022. Romelu Lukaku et al won 3-1.
The Belgium vs Wales duel took place at the Den Dreef Stadium, Heverlee, Thursday (25/3/2021), early morning WIB. This will be the two teams’ first match in Group E European Zone 2022 World Cup Qualification.
GOAL! The visitors surprised Belgium by scoring in the tenth minute. Harry Wilson got his name on the scoreboard.
Starting from a counter-attack launched by Wales, Gareth Bale sent a pass which Wilson greeted with a shot that slid down the bottom left of the Belgian goal. The Dragons winning 1-0.
Behind one goal, Belgium appeared to attack to equalize. Romelu Lukaku came close to scoring with a ball kick in the 17th minute, but his efforts were yet to pay off.
GOAL! Belgium equalized to 1-1 in the 22nd minute. Kevin De Bruyne broke into the Wales goal with his kick ball, maximizing Thorgan Hazard’s cross.
GOAL! Belgium turned 2-1 ahead in the 28th minute. Thomas Meunier sent a cross into the penalty box which Thorgan Hazard headed into the net.
The 2-1 lead for Belgium lasted until halftime.
Entering the second half, Wales tried to score an equalizer. Bale came close to breaking into the Belgian net with an overhead kick in the 49th minute, but his attempt was yet to hit the mark.
PENALTY! Belgium was awarded a kick 12 right in the 72nd minute. Chris Mepham fouled Dries Mertens in the forbidden box.
GOAL! Lukaku successfully carried out his duties as executor perfectly. The Inter Milan striker kicked the ball into the right corner of the Wales goal.
Score 3-1 for Belgium to be the final result of the match. This victory puts De Rode Duivels in second place in Group E behind the Czech Republic who won 6-2 over Estonia, while Wales are fourth.
