World champion Andy Brehme died of cardiac arrest
Andy Brehme (63) died of a cardiac arrest in Munich on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
According to BILD information, the emergency call was received on Monday evening at 11:30 p.m.
Brehme was admitted to the emergency room at the clinic on Ziemssenstrasse near his apartment. He was resuscitated on the way to the hospital – but any help came too late for him.

His partner Susanne Schaefer told the dpa: “It is with deep sadness that I announce on behalf of the family that my partner Andreas Brehme died suddenly and unexpectedly tonight as a result of a cardiac arrest. We ask that you respect our privacy and refrain from asking questions during this difficult time.”
During his playing days, the native of Hamburg played for Saarbrücken, Kaiserslautern (where he was later also a coach), FC Bayern, Inter Milan and Real Zaragoza. He played 86 international matches (8 goals).
At the beginning of this year, he was deeply affected by the death of his friend and mentor Franz Beckenbauer. Now Brehme died just 44 days after the emperor.
