BRATISLAVA – On Friday, the Alpine Commission of the International Ski Federation finally approved the inclusion of the World Cup race in Jasná in the upcoming season’s calendar.
At the FIS Congress in Dubrovnik, Croatia, they also determined the date of the inspection, which will check the parameters of the planned SP race venue (January 20-21, 2024) already in June (June 26-27). The information was confirmed by the Slovak Skiing Association.
For the first time in separate history, the SP race was held in 2016. Female skiers in the Low Tatras presented themselves first in the slalom. Because of the strong wind, the giant slalom had to be postponed from Saturday, March 5 to Monday, March 7, and Austrian Eva-Maria Bremová triumphed in it. The day before, American Mikaela Shiffrinová won the slalom, Veronika Velez-Zuzulová finished third, Petra Vlhová was in ninth place.
In 2021, the World Cup returned to Jasna. On Saturday, March 6, Shiffrinová won the slalom again, ahead of Vlhová. However, Liptáčka triumphed on her home slopes in the emotional giant slalom on Sunday. The event will be held without restrictions after eight years, as the previous edition was affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
