Senegal lost 0-2 to the Netherlands in Group A World Cup 2022.
The match between Senegal and the Netherlands which took place at the Al Thumama stadium in Doha on Monday (21/11) was tough.
The Netherlands tried to take the initiative in possession from the first minute. But afterwards it was Senegal’s turn to appear pressing.
After the first 15 minutes the two teams exchanged attacks. The Netherlands had a chance in the 17th minute thanks to Daley Blind’s header.
Unfortunately Blind’s header was still slightly wide of the right of the Senegal goal.
In the 19th minute, the Netherlands again had a golden chance in the Senegal penalty area. Unfortunately Frenkie De Jong, who was standing unescorted, arrived too late to finish so the Senegalese defender managed to finish first.
The match was still tough and both teams were unable to score goals until the end of the first half. The first half between Senegal and the Netherlands finished 0-0.
In the second half, both teams also had little chance. In the 50th minute the Netherlands only had a chance thanks to Van Dijk’s header.
Unfortunately, Van Dijk’s header still slipped slightly over the Senegalese crossbar.
Then, in the 60th minute, it was his turn to threaten the Dutch goal. Unfortunately his shot was blocked by the Dutch goalkeeper.
The Dutch finally managed to break the deadlock in the 85th minute with a header from Cody Gakpo after continuing a De Jong lure.
This goal was set up after De Jong released a gastric cross from the left side of the game into the heart of the Senegalese defence. Then Gakpo came from the second line to meet De Jong’s pass and managed to head the ball for a goal.
The Netherlands managed to extend their lead to 90+8′ thanks to Dany Klaassen’s goal after taking advantage of the rebound from Memphis Depay’s shot. The Netherlands closed the game successfully with a 2-0 win over Senegal.
