The second day to hold the quarter-finals World Cup 2022 producing two semi-finalists who will face each other on Thursday (15/12) in the early morning.
Morocco confirmed surprise team status. The lion of the Atlas became the first representative of Africa to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
The victory over Portugal made Morocco go down in history. Morocco’s only goal of victory over Portugal was scored by Youssef El Nesyri with three minutes left in the first half.
Morocco’s success left Portuguese players in tears, including Cristiano Ronaldo, who was clearly seen weeping, both on the pitch and in the stadium concourse.
Morocco will face France in the semifinals. The reigning World Cup champion beat England 2-1.
The match between England and France was quite emotional as the two teams tried to attack each other.
Aurelien Tchouameni opened up France’s victory with a 17th-minute long shot.
England, who were looking to equalise, only managed to score in the second half after Tchouameni fouled Bukayo Saka. Harry Kane advanced as executor and changed the score to 1-1.
France’s winning goal was scored by Olivier Giroud in the 78th minute. After the 2-1 score, England had a chance to equalize through the white dot.
The result of Theo Hernandez’s violation on Mason Mount was reviewed via VAR before referee Wilton Sampaio indicated the 12th point. Kane again came forward as an executioner, but the ball kicked by the Tottenham Hotspur striker went over the bar. France was able to secure victory until the fight was broken up.
For Giroud, the goal against England placed him level with Lionel Messi on the top scorer list. Both have scored four goals and are one goal behind Kylian Mbappe who tops the league table of most fertile players.
