Jérémy Bréaud, mayor of Bron @Antoine Merlet
Unlike many cities that boycott the airing of World Cup matches in Qatar, Bron Mayor Jérémie Bréaud says he is not against it.
Like Lyon, many French cities refuse to broadcast the 2022 World Cup matches to be held in Qatar. This applies in particular to Villeurbanne, Vénissieux, Saint-Etienne, Strasbourg, Lille, Rennes Brest, Paris, Bordeaux, etc. Against the tide on this front, the Bron municipality has not expressed its refusal to broadcast the games. On the contrary : “Bron is a football townconfided Jérémie Bréaud, mayor, al Progress. Some are offended that this event will take place in two months, but it was awarded to this country in December 2010! We have heard less of them for the previous edition in Russia or for the Olympic Games in China… So yes, it is an environmental and human rights aberration. But no, I’m not asking for a boycott, as other mayors have been able to do“.
In Bron, during the last Euro Football, a fan zone was installed at the Pierre-Duboeuf stadium. For now, no fan zone has been announced by the municipality. On the other hand, “if France goes far, in time or in the final, nothing is forbidden. […] Bron is a city of football, with possibly the future golden ball Karim Benzema. So we’ll see when the time comes“.
