France qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup, hosted by Qatar, after defeating England 2-1.
The French national team, the holders, scored a goal in the first half through Aurelien Choameni. However, England managed to level the score with a goal scored by Harry Kane from a penalty kick in the 54th minute.
And once again, France took the lead in the 78th minute when Olivier Giroud scored a wonderful header.
Unfortunately for England, their striker, Harry Kane, missed a second penalty, which his team won. However, Kane Adel, with his goal in the match, set the record for the number of international goals in the ranks of the “Three Lions”, recorded on behalf of Wayne Rooney, having scored 53 goals.
England’s attempts to restore parity failed and the match ended in victory for France.
France will play in the semi-final against Morocco, who made a surprise earlier in the day by eliminating Portugal.
France, champions in 1998 and 2018, look to be the third team to retain their World Cup title after Italy, who won the tournament in 1934 and 1938, and Brazil, who won the title in 1958 and in 1962.
On Friday, Argentina and Croatia qualified for the semi-finals, beating the Netherlands and Brazil respectively on penalties.
