France, Egypt, Türkiye, Japan, Colombia, Venezuela and Spain were the countries invited to celebrate the Festival of Cultures, a space where the citizens of Iraq had the opportunity to enjoy food, dance shows and music.
Valeria Alfaro García, president of the DIF Irapuato System, welcomed the attendees, in addition to thanking the presence of the the representatives of each of the invited countries.
“This party is for all of you, for you to enjoy, we are within the framework of Columbus Day and we have decided to transform to commemorate this day into a festival of cultures where we promote social and racial inclusion in our municipality.”
For its part, Liliana Torrero García, director of the DIF Irapuato System, explained that this event has grown since its first editions, when it was known as the Pilgrimage.
“We have nine cultures as guestsnine foreign countries that are already within Irapuato and León, of these, France, Algeria, Egypt and Turkey are new cultures that They join our party; although they are settled in Leóncame to be part of this event.”
During this event, Attendees were able to enjoy a wide variety of activities and flavors.
“Each of these cultures brings its typical sweets, such as ‘baklava’ from Egypt, crafts, French food, desserts, Venezuelan food and, of course, the traditional Spanish paella, Japan with origami displays and traditional clothing, which allows attendees to try on the typical costumes.”
In addition to the gastronomic and cultural offerthe event included family activities.

Francisco Maximiliano Urenda Riverarepresentative of the Undersecretary of Attention to Migrants and Mobility of the Secretariat of Human Rights, recognized the efforts of the authorities to promote and generate spaces for healthy coexistence among the multiple cultures that are already established in the municipality of Irapuato and León.
“This event is a celebration of the rich cultural mosaic that unites us and enriches us as a community, we recognize the efforts of the DIF System and the municipality of Irapuato to promote thediversity and promote peaceful coexistence between our different cultures.”

The event also had an awareness space on disability issues, in line with the DIF’s commitment to promoting inclusion.
The Festival of Cultures not only attracted residents of Irapuato, but also the attendance of between four thousand, it also included an exhibition organized by the Municipal Institute of Culture, Art and Recreationwhich showed some of the most representative festivities of the participating countries.
