The “Congress of the President of Korea of the World of 2022”, in which 333 Korean community leaders from 64 countries of the world gather to discuss the prosperity of the global Korean community, began on the 5th at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.
This competition, organized under the slogan “The Return of the Great Koreans Who Went into the World”, will be held with Incheon Metropolitan City, the first starting point for overseas migration to commemorate the 120th anniversary of official Korean immigration.
The opening ceremony was attended by Yoon Jae-ok, President of the Foreign Reunification Committee, Kim Seok-ki, President of People’s Strength, Overseas Koreans, Lee Jae-jeong, President of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Seong- gon, president of the Overseas Koreans Foundation, Yoo Jeong-bok, mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, and Kim Deok-ryong, president of the World Federation of Korean Traders.
Over 260 Korean Association leaders by continent and region attended offline and 73 online, including event co-chairs Yoo Je-heon, president of the European Korean Federation, and Yoo Young-joon, president of the Latin American Korean Association.
At the opening ceremony, director Lee Jin-young, who produced the documentary “The Legacy of the Rainbow Country”, and former Hawaii Mayor Harry Kim gave a lecture on “Who Are We and Where Are We Going?”
Under the theme “Beautiful Public Diplomacy with 7.32 Million Koreans Overseas, Beautiful Koreans”, this competition, which runs until the 7th, will discuss current issues in 10 regions including the United States, Europe, Canada and Asia and will feature the best practices of the Korean Association.
In addition, dialogue with the government will be held involving government agencies such as the Ministry of Justice and the National Electoral Commission and a public relations booth for related organizations will be managed.

The opening ceremony was followed by a welcome lunch by Foreign Minister Park Jin.
During the lunch, Minister Park assessed the role of the Korean Association, which was dedicated to the development of the Korean community and the country of origin, and expressed his gratitude.
Minister Park urged Korean presidents to show leadership so that the Korean American Association can become the focal point and the Korean community can be more harmonious.
He also stressed that the new government intends to turn a crisis into an opportunity by realizing the vision of a global pivotal country in a complex security environment, and also to contribute to peace and prosperity not only in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia. , but also worldwide.
Explaining the diplomatic direction of the Yun Seok-yeol administration, 7.5 million overseas Koreans have asked to support the Korean government in building a global pivotal country.
