The World Championship leader was thrown out of the vehicle on the first lap and was run over by the South African. Very scary moment. VIDEO
The leader of the MotoGP world championship, the Italian Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia (Ducati Desmosedici GP23), suffered a violent accident at the Montmeló GP and had to be treated urgently in the middle of the track.
Bagnaia was thrown into the air from his bike on the first lap and South African Brad Binder couldn’t help but run over him with his bike. He ran over his legs as the Italian driver rolled down the track.
After the accident, the race was stopped and Bagnaia was treated in the middle of the track and then taken to hospital for safety.
Despite the harshness of the accident, the title world champion did not lose consciousness at any time, although it could be seen from his gestures and movements that his leg mobility was not complete.
The harsh image impacted the Ducati box, where the couple of the Italian pilot was. The tension was such that Davide Tardozzi, Team Manager of the Italian team, had to leave the box with her to try to calm her down.
Both Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini were transferred by ambulance to the Hospital General de Catalunya for a review and full medical tests.
