About the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision reported on the website of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).
According to the decision of the CAS, the athlete was punished for using illegal drugs for eight years, starting from the date of the verdict, that is, from August 28. With the offset of the served period of temporary suspension, the athlete is disqualified until January 9, 2030.
Kashirina was convicted of using illegal drugs in November 2020 and suspended from competition. The weightlifter’s violation was discovered during an investigation into the data of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory. On June 30, 2022, the Anti-Doping Committee (DAK RUSADA) found Kashirina not guilty. Thus, the CAS verdict cancels the decision of DAK RUSADA.
Tatyana Kashirina, 32, is a silver medalist at the 2012 London Olympics, has won the World Championship five times and won the European Championship eight times. Kashirina is also a multiple world record holder in the category over 75 kg.
