“World Champion Swimmer Maria Kameneva Shares Thoughts on IOC’s Neutral Status Proposal”

European and world champion Maria Kameneva, in an interview with SE, expressed her opinion about the possibility of participating in the 2024 Olympics and other major international competitions in a neutral status.

The proposal to allow individual applications from Russians in a neutral status came from the IOC in March.

“In Tokyo, we also performed under a neutral status. But they did perform. Therefore, it is better under a neutral flag than not to speak at all. This is my personal opinion – here everyone decides for himself, ”said Kameneva.

Note that Russian swimmers are suspended from any competition under the auspices of FINA until further notice. The recent recommendations of the IOC in FINA were accepted for consideration, but did not begin to cancel the previous restrictions against Russia and Belarus.
