World champion Spain razes Red Flames to the ground – Football news

The Belgian Red Flames started their new campaign in the Nations League, also important as qualifiers for the 2025 European Championship in Switzerland. On the first day of play, world champion Spain came to visit. And it made for an interesting evening for the Flames.

The Belgian Red Flames opened their battle in the Nations League and European Championship qualifications at home against world champion Spain, which kicked off with a real star ensemble at the King Power @ Den Dreef.

For the Flames, Janice Cayman started somewhat surprisingly on the bench. In the starting line-up of Kris Van Der Haegen – who had to replace the sick Ives Serneels – was Sarah Wijnants, who had returned from injury, while Delacauw and Janssens were also allowed to start: three changes compared to the match in Hungary.

The match itself then? That never really became a competition. Salma Paralluelo opened the score after eight minutes, Jenni Hermoso silenced the match after fifteen minutes. And with one more shot at Paralluelo it was already 0-3 at half time.

The Flames also had to endure the law of the strongest in the second half. Paralluelo completed her hat trick, Esther Gonzalez also scored two more and Sheila Garcia also scored. The final score was 0-7 for the world champion.

A match awaits Denmark in four days. The Danes won 1-3 in the Czech Republic in their first match, so it is a very important match for the Flames with a view to direct qualification for the 2025 European Championship in Switzerland.
