Gilberto de Souza has been Best Coach of the Year three times, World Champion with the Brazilian national team in 2017 and gold medal winner at the ANOC Doha 2019 World Beach Games and is the one who teaches the International Course for Beach Soccer Coaches to more than 40 national strategists.
In his presentations, Da Silva is talking about topics related to the development of the modality, as well as strategies and methodologies that will help national coaches to improve and update knowledge in view of their local and international commitments.
The Brazilian assured that the most important thing in learning as a coach is the methodology, since it is the basis for the professional practice of this sport, which is why the talk on the first day of activities was focused on that topic.
“It is an honor to be here. El Salvador has beach soccer that is highly respected around the world, it is a small country, but respectable in this modality, that is why I am here to learn and share knowledge. We are going to talk about the methodology of this modality, which is the basis for improvement,” said Gilberto at the beginning of the course.
Regarding the content that will be developed during the seminar, the 2017 World Champion explained that it will focus on on-field strategy and the work of coaches inside and outside the arena.
“We are going to talk about the specificity, the defensive and offensive game and the physical preparation of the goalkeepers, the issue of nutrition. Then we are going to talk to the coaches, since they are the ones who have to know about all the areas within a team. This is a fundamental part of the coaches’ work,” said Gilberto.
Da Silva took the opportunity to remember that El Salvador has recognized and very important players in beach soccer.
“I remember a lot of the 2011 team, which was placed in fourth place and was made up of Frank Velásquez, Eliodoro Portillo, Agustín Ruiz, I understand that they play in the league they have now in this country, that is important,” said the speaker.
Likewise, Da Silva recalled the game on August 22, 2021, in the Russian capital, in the Beach Soccer World Cup.
“Being here has given me the opportunity to meet Rudis Gallo again, whom I respect a lot, we had a game in which we faced El Salvador. The Brazilian team won by the minimum (5-4), it was a tough duel for our team and for the Selecta, in the World Cup in Russia, so we are friends and I hope we exchange information today that I am in the country,” he added.
