“The pandemic will end when the world decides to end it. It is in our hands,” Gebreyesus said.
According to him, the world community has “all the necessary tools,” including medical ones, to defeat the pandemic.
“The G20 countries must immediately fulfill their commitments and share doses. Manufacturers must give priority and urgently fulfill their contracts with COVAX and AVAT,” Gebreyesus said.
He also called on pharmaceutical companies to “share know-how, technology and licenses.
“If we do this, we can end the pandemic and accelerate global recovery,” concluded the head of WHO.
According to WHO, as of October 22, 242,348,657 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the world, of which 4,927,732 ended in death.
