The World Bank board of directors approved today three new financings for Argentina for US$ 900 million destined to health and to reduce the risks of flooding in different cities of the country.
as reported US$400 million will be invested in expanding access to clean energy and promoting energy efficiency measures in vulnerable homes and communities, US$300 million to improve health service coverage, and US$200 million to reduce flood risks in different cities of the country.
The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, said: “through work together with the World Bank we are advancing in addressing policies that improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable sectors of our country”, in a statement released by the multilateral organization.
The official assured that “with the projects approved by the Bank’s Board of Directors, we will be deepening and strengthening our public health system, allowing continuity of long-term policies central to our population.”
From the World Bank they expressed that “we are accompanying Argentina with investments that help reduce its climate vulnerability to floods and that allow progress in the energy transition, hand in hand with clean energy and greater efficiency,” said Marianne Fay. , director of the World Bank for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, and added: “we also continue to support investments in public health so that coverage is increasingly equitable and effective.”
All three projects are variable-spread loans, repayable in 32 years and have a seven-year grace period.
