However, the hoped-for leap in quality has not arrived: however, measures would have been needed which, for now, he has never shown to be worth in his career. However, he remains an excellent athlete, the best Italian pole vaulter for 15 years now.
Men’s 4×400 relay (Davide Re, Edoardo Scotti, Lorenzo Benati, Alessandro Sibilio), 8: by a hair’s breadth they don’t go below the 3 minute mark, but it’s enough to grab a prestigious final, which the Italian movement deserves. The veteran King didn’t shine, but the younger teammates outdid themselves, especially a Hiss who once again showed his boundless talent.
Women’s relay 4×400 (Alice Mangione, Ayomide Folorunso, Alessandra Bonora, Giancarla Trevisan), 8.5: there is not a champion in this relay, but four elements of immeasurable solidity which, put together, have produced an extraordinary result. Not only the final, but also the improvement of the national record that held on from Rio 2016. Yet another sign of the great health enjoyed by our local athletics.
Nadia Battocletti, 4: after 3500 the light bulb went out and he concluded the final of the 5000 meters in last position. A bad evening that can happen.
Men’s 4×100 relay (Roberto Rigali, Marcell Jacobs, Lorenzo Patta, Filippo Tortu), 10 cum laude: friends, we are among the world speed powers. Who would have even dreamed of this 3 years ago? The Tokyo Olympics hangover hadn’t been accidental, far from it. The Italian movement has grown, it has consolidated, it has reached the international elite and it has everything to stay there permanently, because it is working well, with a seedbed that every year is proposing fresh forces. Silver was objectively the maximum result in the presence of these United States, the blues did nothing wrong, with exchange rates bordering on perfection. A round of applause to the technicians and the Federation who have always believed in relay races (and four finals prove it…), organizing various rallies during the season: the results are the result of careful and far-sighted planning.
Women’s 4×100 relay (Zaynab Dosso, Dalia Kaddari, Anna Bongiorni, Alessia Pavese), 9: a fourth place that we will not forget, immediately behind the superpowers USA, Jamaica and Great Britain. What more can you ask of these girls who have gone beyond their limits in two days? Also in this case, the bronze of the 2022 European Championships was not accidental. The growth of this group has become exponential.
