World Al-Quds Day and the need for global support for the Palestinian issue

Par Hossein Amirabdollahian,
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran

This year we are celebrating World Al-Quds Day in a context where humanity is witnessing one of the greatest crimes and genocides in history.

The immense human tragedy unfolding in Palestine and particularly in Gaza over the past six months is another regrettable and sad manifestation of the historic violation of the rights of the oppressed and resistant people of Palestine and the violation of the laws and international regulations in the geographical area of the occupied territories of a people where acts of force and all kinds of internationally recognized crimes are openly exercised against the original owners of the Palestinian land by the temporary and illegitimate Israeli regime.

These days, not only are innocent Palestinian men, women and children being massacred by these criminals, but also hospitals, medical and relief centers, mosques and churches are being targeted by the cruelty of the authorities and the military. of this false and bestial regime.

Without a doubt, the actions of the Zionists can be considered a violation of the most obvious principles of human rights and a blatant example of crimes against humanity, genocide, apartheid and ethnic cleansing.

The continuation of genocide and war crimes in the Gaza Strip, the massacre of more than 33,000 Palestinians in approximately 6 months, the majority of them women and children, as well as the ban by the false Israeli regime on delivery of humanitarian and food aid to the Gaza Strip, and this regime’s resort to starving Gazans with the aim of continuing the genocide of women and children and forcibly displacing them to Sinai and the territories Jordanians, this is what raised the alarm about the occurrence of a humanitarian catastrophe unprecedented in the century.

It is now clear that the Israeli regime, by completely besieging the Gaza Strip and obstructing the delivery of immediate and sufficient humanitarian aid, is pursuing the dangerous objective of creating the conditions for social and civil collapse there and to destroy every trace of life and identity of historical and civilizational Palestine. The attempted forced displacement of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip is clear proof of the malicious policy of this criminal regime to deliberately destroy the Palestinian people and identity.

Today more than ever, it is necessary that the elements proving the perpetration of genocide and massive massacre by the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip be the subject of the attention of international bodies, the United Nations Security Council and the International Criminal Court, and that effective preventive and punitive measures be taken in this area.

Furthermore, as an urgent and essential measure, it is necessary that with the help of the United Nations, the International Red Cross and the world community, the Rafah crossing point and Other human crossing points be reopened as soon as possible to allow the population of Gaza, including women and children, to continue to survive.

Within the framework of international bodies, we have had constant exchanges with the Secretary General of the United Nations and the International Red Cross on the level of humanitarian cooperation in this area. In all these talks, as well as during negotiations with Islamic countries, the priority of providing humanitarian aid and at the same time the need to end the war, was seriously emphasized. Although we have seen that the Secretary General of the United Nations and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross have taken important steps on this subject, but overall, because of the full support of the White House and from some Western countries to the Israeli regime, these humanitarian efforts have not achieved the desired results.

It is unfortunate to note that after almost 6 months since the start of the brutal attacks of the usurping Zionist regime against the Gaza Strip, we are witnessing chronic inaction on the part of the International Community, in particular the United Nations and of the Security Council of this Organization whose main task is to ensure international peace and security.

It is quite clear that the United States played a major role in continuing the war at the expense of ending it!

On the other hand, it was expected that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, using its various political and economic capabilities and its pressure tools, would assume its full role in ending the war, but despite holding of various meetings, this organization has not been able to play its role effectively and expected in this area.

We hope that during the remaining days of the holy month of Ramadan, thanks to the efforts of Muslim countries and the practical responsibility of the International Community, serious measures will be taken to deliver humanitarian aid to save the oppressed population of Gaza from starvation . We also hope that with the blessing of this holy month, we will witness Islamic, Regional and International unity and cohesion as well as joint efforts across the world towards more effective support for the oppressed Palestinian people, and that we will witness serious and dissuasive measures at the Regional and International level to put an end to the cruelty of this apartheid and terrorist regime against the oppressed Palestinian people.

There is no doubt that despite the painful humanitarian conditions and war situation in the Palestinian territories, the Muslim people of Palestine and the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank remain firm in their will and faith to defend their homeland and their internationally recognized natural rights and to continue to resist with determination against this occupying and criminal regime.

Today, the whole world is saddened by the situation of Palestine and of this oppressed people who remain firm despite particularly tragic conditions which reflect all the suffering of humanity and the free peoples of the world.

We are convinced that at this historic moment, all the peoples of the world loving freedom and peace are asking the International Community, in particular the UN and the Islamic countries, to prepare the necessary conditions aimed at working towards a lasting peace, to fully guarantee the violated rights of the Palestinians and to put an end to the terrible crimes of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Aware of the need to fully rehabilitate the rights of the Palestinian people and put an end to the largest and most painful occupation of the century, the Islamic Republic of Iran is proud to have stood alongside the Palestinian people for several decades.

Recalling the importance of the Palestinian question as the most important issue in the Islamic world, and emphasizing the need for the International Community to pay attention to the occupation as the real and fundamental root of the crisis in West Asia and the regime Zionist as the most important cause of insecurity and instability in the region, the Islamic Republic of Iran believes in the need to fundamentally resolve this chronic historical crisis which is a deep wound on the body and conscience of the humanity and the Muslim world.

World Al-Quds Day, which is the initiative of Imam Khomeini (not to his soul), the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran to attract the responsible attention of the whole world to the Palestinian question, is also an important opportunity to declare unified and global solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and express indignation and disgust towards the Zionist Usurper Regime, as well as to condemn the supporters of this false and criminal regime and pay responsible attention to real roots of the old and painful Palestinian crisis.

The Zionist occupiers and known supporters of this regime, focusing on Operation Al-Aqsa Storm – which was an inevitable reaction of the Palestinian people to crimes and violations of their natural rights, to massacre and repression, to sacrilege of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and insult to the sacred values of Muslims – seek to accuse the resistance and the Palestinian people of being behind the ongoing war against Gaza and clumsily attempt to divert the spirit of the global public opinion of the truth and the real root of the Palestinian crisis, while the real root of this crisis lies in the occupation of Palestinian land for 75 years by a false and rootless regime and in the violation fundamental, natural and legitimate rights of a noble people.

Until the root cause of the crisis is seriously addressed and responsible measures are taken to address it, lasting peace and security cannot be achieved in the region and the world. world.
World Al-Quds Day is an opportunity to reflect on a truly responsible and sustainable solution.

Underlining the natural and inherent right of the Palestinian people to legitimately resist oppression and occupation, the Islamic Republic of Iran through responsible action presented a democratic initiative for the Palestinian issue and registered it with the United Nations. United, and believes that by organizing a referendum with the help of the UN, with the participation of all the original inhabitants of Palestine including Christians, Muslims and Jews, this solution will be able to put an end to the crisis the oldest and most painful of the century in the region and in the world.
