World AIDS Day 1 December 2024, raising the issue of equal rights for all

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – World AIDS Day fall every December 1st. Before the celebration of World AIDS Day this year, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI) carries the national theme “Equal Rights for All, Together We Can”.

This strong message is seen again as a reminder to end stigma, discrimination and inequality in HIV/AIDS treatment in Indonesia.

Plt. Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health, Yudhi Pramono, emphasized that this memorial is a move to strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation in achieving the goal of “End AIDS by 2030.”

“This is not just the work of the government, but a collective movement to create inclusive health services that respect human rights. With joint measures, we can reduce the number of new infections, eliminate AIDS-related deaths, and improve the quality of life of PLHIV. HIV/AIDS), “said Yudhi at Hotel Des Indes, Jakarta, Thursday (28/11/2024).

Even though efforts to control HIV/AIDS have shown progress, challenges remain enormous. According to the Director of Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases (P2PM), Ina Agustina, 35 percent of new infections were found in the group of men who have sex with men (MSM) and 28 percent of PLHIV couples .

Unfortunately, only 64 percent of PLHIV receive antiretroviral therapy (ARV), and only 49 percent receive viral prevention.

To achieve the 95-95-95 target by 2030, the Ministry of Health is prioritizing initiatives such as self-writingsame-day treatment (Sameday ART), and integration of community-based services.
