Shikh Muhammad Makhdad Haron (48), a workshop owner in Malaysia sells used cars at very cheap prices. He took off a Proton Iswara Aeroback car for only Rp 3 thousand!
The owner of a car workshop in Gangsa Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah, Melaka sold a used Proton Iswara Aeroback for 1 ringgit or the equivalent of Rp 3,500. Shikh Muhammad, who owns the Makhdad Workshop, sold the car for Rp 3,000 to Isa Abdul Ghani (72), a seller of instant roti canai.
Shikh Muhammad said his heart was touched when he was told by his friend about the hardships of life experienced by Isa who had to immediately sell roti canai in shops and school canteens to survive.
He said the 1 ringgit was only symbolic. He gave a second-hand Proton Iswara Aeroback voluntarily to Isa so he could send an order for roti canai because Isa did not have his own vehicle.
“In the past, Uncle Isa had a car but had to sell it because it often broke down. With the advantages and abilities that Allah SWT gave me as a car repair shop owner, I was called to help him even though the value was not much,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
Shikh Muhammad invited Isa to his workshop so he could look at his used car collection. The old man selling roti canai initially said he could only afford 1,500-2,000 ringgit (Rp 5-6 million) for a used car.
“But he was very surprised when I told him the car was at a price beyond his imagination. I was delighted to be able to give the car to him,” he said.
This is not the first time Shikh Muhammad has given cars to people in need. According to him, the Proton Iswara Aeroback is the third vehicle donated to the underprivileged.
“Before, I donated a car to a single mother who has many children and only travels by motorbike,” she said.
